Hot Contemporary Vietnamese Poetry

Wanted to hip you to this kick ass contemporary Vietnamese poetry we got going on this week over at Rock Heals.

Three poems from Bui Chat (tr. from Vietnamese by the equally great Linh Dinh). He is part of a group of Vietnamese poets that go by "Open Mouth" (real name translated) who are after coarse language of daily life and capture "life's natural colors" in contrast to a somewhat traditional Vietnamese poetic culture -- so vulgarity, obscenity, illiteracy -- you know the drill. They've managed to get themselves thrown in jail, had their readings cancelled by the Man, and so on. They are obviously punk rawk.

Yeah you've heard the political side of this story before (Nazi Germany, Soviet Union back in the day, China) and on the poetry side (Wordsworth, Whitman, WC Williams... just to name a couple Ws), but these are worth checking out.
Don't sleep on it!

Check that out too and enjoi. And if you have goodness, send it my way for the potential sharing / publishing / etc. We're especially looking for things non-poetry, cuz we've been so overweighted with the poultry of late and I don't want peoples thinking we're just a poetry mag.
